Police seek dashcam footage of impaired driver

We are asking for anyone who may have witnessed an impaired driver to contact police.

Yesterday, Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, between 11:40 a.m. and 12:05 p.m., we were called for several reports of a vehicle driving dangerously, including one hit and run, in the southeast area of the city.

The vehicle, described as a white Chevrolet Express van, license plate BTY 8991, is believed to have travelled southbound on 24 Street S.E. to northbound Deerfoot Trail S.E., and then westbound on Anderson Road S.E., to northbound Bonaventure Drive S.E., where police attempted to conduct a traffic stop. After failing to stop for police, the driver continued northbound driving erratically as he continued through the intersections of 109 Avenue S.E., and Fairmont Drive S.E. The vehicle eventually came to a stop at Willow Park Drive S.E.

The driver was taken into custody, and charges are pending.

“The holidays are a time to be with family and friends,” said Staff Sergeant Mark Auger of the Calgary Police Service General Investigations Unit. “The reckless actions of individuals who drive impaired could very well have taken the life of someone’s loved one. We are thankful no one was injured, but we would like to remind all Calgarians not to drink and drive.”

Investigators ask that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has dashcam footage showing the incident to contact police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through either of the following methods:
