Police seek assistance in locating assault suspect

We are asking the public for their help in locating an unknown man who is believed to be responsible for an unprovoked attack on a woman in the northwest last night.

At approximately 10:40 p.m., yesterday, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, a woman was walking in Nose Hill Park near a parking lot located at 14 Street and 64 Avenue N.W. when she was attacked from behind by an unknown man.

A struggle ensued between the victim and her attacker, and she sustained minor injuries while trying to get away. She was able to flee and call for help. Officers located the victim soon after and she was transported to hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The suspect is described as a man with a slim build, wearing a red hoodie with the hood pulled up, jeans with a key lanyard hanging out of the front pocket, white shoes, a black face mask and gloves.

“We engaged several units and resources in an attempt to locate the suspect, including HAWCS, our Canine Unit, District 3 patrol members and our Forensic Crime Scene Unit,” says Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm. “We are now asking the public for their help while we work to ensure the safety of all Calgarians.”
