Police search for suspects in residential break and enter

Police were called to the northwest community of Briar Hill early this morning for reports that suspects had broken into a home, stole property and assaulted one of the residents, before fleeing the area. The suspects remain unaccounted for and investigators are asking witnesses to come forward.

Around 4:30 a.m., Sunday, April 2, 2023, police were called to the 2000 block of Briar Crescent N.W., where a family reported finding a man and a woman in their basement. The homeowner confronted the intruders and was subsequently attacked with a weapon. The homeowner fought back and the suspects fled the residence with stolen property. The female suspect used stolen vehicle keys to access the family’s vehicle and flee, while it is believed that the male suspect fled on foot. The victim received minor injuries.

Police conducted extensive patrols of the area and located the stolen vehicle, which had collided with a fence. The Canine Unit was called in to track the suspects on foot, locating several items of evidentiary value along the way. Unfortunately neither suspect was located and police continue to search for them.

Investigators are asking anyone in the area who may be witnesses or have CCTV footage, to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
