Police search area east of Calgary in relation to AMBER Alert

The Calgary Police Service has deployed resources to search an area east of Calgary in relation to the ongoing AMBER Alert for Taliyah Leigh MARSMAN.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, police took a man into custody who investigators believe may have been involved in Taliyah’s disappearance. Subsequent information was obtained and as a result, police will be searching a rural area east of Chestermere for evidence in relation to the case.

On Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at approximately 1:40 a.m., an AMBER Alert was issued for MARSMAN, after her mother was found deceased in their Panorama home the previous day.

The man taken into custody is believed to have been driving a dark grey sedan in the Panorama community, which investigators believe was involved in Taliyah’s disappearance. The car was seen driving close to where homicide victim Sara BAILLIE’s car had been recovered. CCTV footage obtained shows the car around the time when Taliyah was last believed to have been seen.

Photos of the vehicle, shown driving on the street, are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

The AMBER Alert remains in effect. No further information is available at this time. An additional media update is anticipated today, Thursday, July 14, 2016, however a time has not been set.

Anyone with information in relation to MARSMAN’s disappearance is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
