Police respond to two fatal collisions
Our Traffic Section continues to investigate two separate fatal collisions that occurred yesterday in the city’s northwest and northeast.
On Monday, August 4, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m., a single-vehicle motorcycle collision occurred in the southbound lanes of Stoney Trail N.W., underneath the Crowchild Trail N.W. overpass.
At that time, it is believed a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by a man in his 40s, was travelling southbound in the middle lane of Stoney Trail N.W. The roadway was under construction below the Crowchild Trail N.W. overpass, with the middle and right lanes being prepared for re-paving.
It is believed the motorcycle lost control when moving over to the left lane. The rider was dismounted from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. The rider was declared deceased at the scene.
Neither speed, alcohol, nor drugs are believed to be factors in the collision.

The girl was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition and succumbed to her injuries.
