Police respond to serious-injury pedestrian collision

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate after an early morning downtown collision left a man in life-altering condition.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., today, Monday, March 31, 2025, a 1999 Honda Civic, driven by an 18-year-old man, was travelling north on Macleod Trail S.E., approaching 14 Avenue S.E. It is believed that at the same time, a man in his 50s crossed the roadway heading eastbound and into the path of the Honda.

The pedestrian suffered serious life-altering injuries and was transported to hospital.

The driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

Impairment by alcohol or drugs is not believed to be a factor in this collision. Speed is being investigated as a possible factor.
