Driver succumbs to injuries in single-vehicle collision

The driver involved in a serious single-vehicle collision that occurred last night in northeast Calgary has succumbed to his injuries. We continue to investigate the collision and believe speed to be a factor.

Investigators are asking any potential witnesses, including drivers with dashcams who were travelling in the area prior to the collision, to come forward.

Police respond to serious injury collision

We are currently responding to a serious, single-vehicle collision that occurred near the intersection of 16 Avenue and 36 Street N.E.

At approximately 10:55 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, we received reports that a vehicle was travelling east on 16 Avenue N.E. when the driver lost control. The vehicle crossed the median and flipped over several times before catching fire.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police are on scene now investigating the collision and as a result, 16 Avenue will be closed between 19 Street N.E. and 52 Street N.E.
