Police respond to serious collision involving youth cyclist

We continue to investigate a collision that occurred yesterday in the northeast community of Cityscape that resulted in a young boy being transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., yesterday, Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, police were called to the area of Cityscape Drive and Cityscape Heath N.E., for reports of an injury collision involving an 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle and a vehicle.

It is believed the boy was travelling south on his bicycle along Cityscape Heath N.E. and entered an unmarked crosswalk at Cityscape Drive N.E. At this time, a woman in her 30s was travelling westbound on Cityscape Drive N.E. and struck the boy. The boy sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition where he remains. The driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with police.

Neither speed, alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors in this collision.
