Police respond to fatal shooting

The Calgary Police Service has one man in custody in relation to a fatal shooting believed to be domestic in nature.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, officers responded to multiple calls of shots being fired at a residence in the 6900 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E. Upon arrival, officers found a woman in her thirties deceased and a 15-year-old woman injured. The young woman was taken to hospital where she remains in non-life threatening condition.

A short while later, a patrol vehicle spotted the suspect in a vehicle in the 4000 block of Whitehorn Drive N.E. The suspect fired shots from his vehicle before pulling over.

Officers were able to take the man into custody without incident. Two children, a 11-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy were located in the vehicle. Both were uninjured and are currently in police custody.

Road closures are currently in effect on Whitehorn Drive N.E. and will be in place through the morning commute.
