Police respond to early morning shooting

Earlier this morning, police responded to reports of a shooting in the southeast community of Forest Lawn that has left one man in hospital.

Shortly before 4 a.m., today, Wednesday, May 17, 2023, police were called to the area of 36 Street and 17 Avenue S.E. for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, first responders located a man, in his 30s, who was in medical distress. The man was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. He remains in hospital and has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Investigators believe this to be a targeted incident.

Police continue to search for the suspect(s) and are asking for the public’s assistance to come forward with any information about the incident, including any suspicious activity or vehicles seen in the area around the time of the shooting.

Addressing gun violence continues to be a priority for our Service. Through investigation, prevention and enforcement activities we have coordinated our resources to reduce victimization and enhance community safety.
