Police looking for man wanted in connection with bank frauds

The Calgary Police Service is asking for the public’s help to locate a man wanted in connection with a series of identity thefts and bank frauds.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, a man entered a bank located in the 300 block of Shawville Blvd and withdrew a large amount of money using fake identification that matched the personal information of one of the bank’s clients. The man then went to three more banks, where it is believed he used the same fake identification to withdraw more money.

It believed that the same man has since visited at least 14 other banks in and around Calgary between August and early November, where he tried or was able to fraudulently withdraw money. In total, it is alleged the man has withdrawn over $150,000 through these frauds.

Jerry William LYONS, 50, of Calgary, is wanted on multiple warrants in connection with these incidents. He is described as Caucasian, approximately 5’9” tall, with a slim build, thinning light brown hair and brown eyes. He sometimes wears glasses and may be carrying identification that does not have his real name on it.
