Police investigating toddler death in southeast Calgary

We are currently investigating a suspicious toddler death that occurred early this morning in the community of Midnapore.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., today, Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, police and EMS were called to a residence located in the 0 to 100 block of Bannister Manor S.E., for reports of a toddler in medical distress. The child was transported to hospital by EMS, however, life-saving attempts were unsuccessful and the two-year-old girl was declared deceased.

Based on initial information, this death is being treated as suspicious.

As it is still early in the investigation, detectives are interviewing a number of individuals to determine the events leading up to the child’s death.

An autopsy will be conducted at 9 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Due to the nature of the death, no further information is available at this time.
