Police investigating suspicious death

We are currently investigating a suspicious death after a man was found deceased in a restaurant parking lot along Macleod Trail S.W.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, the Calgary Police Service and AHS EMS were called to the parking lot of the Mazaj Lounge & Restaurant, located at 9223 Macleod Trail S.W., for reports of a man in medical distress.

Once EMS arrived the man in his early 30s was pronounced deceased. CPS patrol units attended, and the case was subsequently assigned to the Homicide Unit due to the suspicious nature of the death.

Further information will be released pending the outcome of an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 22, 2021.

Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious at the above location between 10:20 and 11:20 p.m.
