Police investigating sexual assault in Southwood

The Calgary Police Service is investigating after a woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted by a stranger in the community of Southwood last night.

At approximately 11 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, the woman was walking westbound on a pathway by Southland Drive, just west of the commercial area at Southland Drive and Elbow Drive S.W. A man she did not know came up behind her, grabbed her, and touched her sexually before fleeing south through Snowden Crescent S.W.

Officers immediately searched the area with support from HAWCS and the Canine Unit, but they were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect was described as tall, with a large furry hat, and a red and white plaid jacket.
