Police investigating serious collision on Stoney Trail

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a serious collision that occurred yesterday on Stoney Trail.

At approximately 10 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, a blue Subaru Impreza was merging onto westbound Stoney Trail from 52 Street S.E., when it was struck from behind by a white Ford F-350. The Ford went off the road and slid on the grass before rolling onto its roof and coming to a rest.

The driver of the Ford, a 50-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The passengers in the Ford – a 37-year-old man, a 23-year-old man, and an 18-year-old man – all suffered minor injuries.

The 31-year-old male driver of the Subaru suffered minor injuries.

Excessive speed and alcohol are being investigated as factors in this collision. The investigation is ongoing.
