Police investigating serious collision involving pedestrian

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is currently investigating a serious collision that occurred earlier today.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., police were called to the area of Canyon Meadows Drive and 6 Street S.W., following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

A woman in her early 20s was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

As the investigation is in its early stages, it is unknown if speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.

Please avoid the area as traffic backups will be significant as police investigate. Access to westbound Canyon Meadows Drive from MacLeod Trail is also closed.
