Police investigating fatal stabbing

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating after a woman was stabbed last night in the Marda Loop-Bankview area.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, police were called to a residence in the 1800 block of 27 Avenue S.W., after a woman was stabbed. When emergency crews arrived, they found the woman deceased.

Based on the evidence at this point, the stabbing is not believed to be random.

Officers searched the residence but were initially unable to locate a suspect. Through the investigation and patrols, a suspect was identified and arrested downtown around 5 a.m.
