Police investigating fatal altercation

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal altercation that occurred in the community of Penbrooke Meadows.

At approximately 10 p.m., on Sunday, May 10, 2020, police were called to the 200 block of 52 Street S.E., for reports of a man in medical distress. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS.

After speaking with witnesses, investigators believe the assault took place in a parking lot outside of the 7-Eleven, located in the 5300 block of 8 Avenue S.E. Police are now reviewing CCTV from the area and searching for a potential suspect.

At this time, it is too early to determine a motive for this assault.

An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow, Monday, May 11, 2020, by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
