Police investigating after truck crashes into restaurant

Officers from our Traffic Section continue to investigate after a vehicle was driven into a restaurant late yesterday evening.

We were called at approximately 10:30 p.m., yesterday, Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, for reports that a GMC Sierra being operated by a 76-year-old man had driven into Sammy’s Chophouse, located in the 3100 block of 34 Avenue S.E. It is believed the driver crashed the truck through the front of the restaurant at a high rate of speed before coming to a rest inside.

Four restaurant patrons were transported to hospital from the scene, three with minor injuries and one with serious injuries.

While officers from our Traffic Section continue to investigate the collision, alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.

Anyone with information, or who has dashcam footage from the area, is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
