Police investigating after man found dead in intersection

We are investigating a suspicious death this morning, after a man was found dead in an intersection in east Calgary.

We were called around 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, after a man was found dead after exiting a vehicle at the intersection of Memorial Drive and 36 Street N.E. Both EMS and our officers were sent, but the man was dead when officers arrived.

There was no vehicle at the scene and officers are still working to determine what vehicle the man exited, and how. The death is being investigated as a suspicious death.

It is unknown if the man had any injuries prior to exiting the vehicle and we have not determined if the man fell or was pushed at this point. Investigators are now working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and other experts across our Service to determine what happened.

The intersection remains closed to allow for the investigation and drivers will need to find alternate routes.
