Police investigate weekend fatal motorcycle collision

We continue to investigate after a fatal motorcycle collision resulted in the death of a teen over the weekend in the city's southeast.

At approximately 4 a.m., on Sunday, Oct. 6., 2024, a single motorcycle collision occurred on 52 Street S.E., just south of the intersection at Glenmore Trail S.E.

At that time, it is believed a 2005 Honda CBR 600, being operated by a 17-year-old male, was traveling south on 52 Street S.E., at a high rate of speed. As the motorcycle crossed Glenmore Trail S.E., the rider lost control of the motorcycle. The rider was dislodged from the motorcycle and struck the base of a light pole sustaining fatal injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.

Speed is considered to be a factor in the collision.

Impairment by alcohol or drugs are not considered to be factors.
