Police investigate weekend CTrain collision

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section continues to investigate a fatal collision that occurred on Saturday night between a CTrain and a pedestrian.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, a fatal collision occurred between a CTrain and a pedestrian at the Heritage LRT Station, located at 12 Haddon Road S.W.

The pedestrian, a 20-year-old male, was standing on the south end of the level portion of the Heritage Station platform prior to the collision. As the train approached the station, the pedestrian entered the path of travel of the train. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.

No other injuries were reported.

Speed is not being considered a factor in this collision. Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors on the part of the train operator. It is unknown at this time if alcohol and drugs were factors with the pedestrian.
