Police investigate violent assault – Killarney

Our officers continue to investigate a violent assault that happened last month in the community of Killarney, and are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspects and the vehicle involved.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at approximately 11 p.m., we were called for reports of an assault at the McDonald’s located at 3611 17 Avenue S.W. Three unknown males entered the restaurant and after a brief interaction were asked to leave by a security guard. After the security guard walked the three males outside, a fourth unknown male joined the other males at which time a physical confrontation occurred, and the security guard was assaulted by all four males.

The suspects then fled the scene in one vehicle. The victim sustained life-altering injuries and was taken to hospital where he was treated and released.

The first male suspect is described as approximately 6’ tall, with short brown hair, and was wearing a black coat, light blue jeans and white runners.

The second male suspect is described as approximately 6'2” tall, with short brown hair, and was wearing a black toque, dark blue coat, faded black jeans and white runners.

The third male suspect is described as approximately 5'8” tall, and was wearing a black sweater, black pants and white runners.

The fourth male suspect is described as approximately 5'9” tall, and was wearing an army green hoodie, light blue ripped jeans and white Adidas runners with black stripes.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the restaurant and images of the suspects and suspect vehicle were captured. All images can be viewed on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

“Any assault in our community is of concern to us and we continue to investigate this incident,” said Staff Sergeant Jeff MacQueen of the CPS General Investigations Unit. “We are asking anyone with information about the suspects or the assault to come forward with information.”
