Police investigate suspicious death in Vista Heights

Homicide investigators are on scene of a suspicious death in northeast Calgary and are asking anyone with information to contact police.

At approximately 6 p.m., yesterday, Saturday, July 20, 2024, police were called to the Foothills Medical Centre, located at 1403 29 Street N.W., for reports of two victims who had arrived suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, one woman was declared deceased, and one man remains in serious condition.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Monday, July 22, 2024. Until the completion of the autopsy, no further information can be shared.

It is believed the incident took place as the victims were travelling in a vehicle westbound on the 32 Avenue N.E. overpass at Deerfoot Trail. Officers are asking anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage or who may have witnessed the shooting to contact police.
