Police investigate suspicious death in Greenview

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating a third suspicious death in as many days, following the discovery of a man in the northeast community of Greenview.

At approximately 8:10 p.m., on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, police were called to the 4400 block of Greenview Drive N.E., for reports of a man in medical distress. Upon arrival, the man was found deceased.

Investigators spoke to several witnesses at the scene, and one man was taken into custody for questioning.

An autopsy is scheduled for 9 a.m., on Thursday, July 7, 2022.

“Although we are in the preliminary stages of the investigation, we believe all parties are known to one another and this is an isolated and targeted incident,” says Staff Sergeant Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Homicide Unit.

“We do not believe this incident is related to the other recent deaths within the last few days, which are also currently under investigation.”

The recent violence occurring in our city is a priority for our Service and is being addressed by several areas through investigations, enforcement and prevention. In addition to a significant amount of work for our homicide investigators, other resources across the Service have been impacted with additional tasks of collecting evidence, speaking to witnesses, conducting interviews and locating suspects.
