Police investigate suspicious death

We are investigating a suspicious death that occurred in the southeast community of Deer Run.
Shortly after 10 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, police were called to a home for reports of a disturbance. A man in his 70s was located with severe injuries and taken to hospital where he died a short time later. It is believed that this incident is domestic in nature.

The lone suspect, a man in his 30s, was tracked to downtown Calgary and arrested in the 100 block of Ninth Avenue S.W. at approximately 1:50 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025. He is now in custody.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted this week. Further details will be available once the autopsy is completed and charges are formally laid.

As part of the investigation, downtown CTrain service was temporarily suspended but is operational again.
