Police investigate southwest pedestrian collision
Our Traffic Section continues to investigate after a single-vehicle pedestrian collision occurred earlier today, leaving a 71-year-old woman in critical condition.
At approximately 1:35 p.m., today, Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, police were called to the intersection of 26 Ave. and 34 St. S.W., for reports of a serious-injury collision.
At that time, it is believed a 2007 Kia Soul operated by a 66-year-old woman, was travelling westbound on 26 Ave. S.W., approaching the intersection at 34 St. S.W.
At the same time, the pedestrian was crossing 26 Ave. S.W., in an unmarked crosswalk, heading north.
It is believed the pedestrian crossed in front of the Kia, with the driver failing to notice the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was transported to hospital where they remain critical condition.
The driver was uninjured and remained at the scene.
Neither speed, alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in this collision.
Driver inattention is being investigated as a possible factor.
