Police investigate shooting in Huntington Hills

We continue to investigate a shooting that occurred in the northeast community of Huntington Hills.

This morning, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at approximately 6:45 a.m., we were called to the 6500 block of Huntridge Hill N.E., for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his early 20s suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred at the same location where the man was found, as evidence indicated a nearby residence had been struck, which is believed to be associated to the victim. No one inside the residence was harmed.

The man was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

This is believed to be a targeted incident and the victim and suspects(s) are known to one another. No arrests have been made at this time, and we continue to search for suspects in relation to this incident.

Investigators have reviewed CCTV footage and have interviewed witnesses, however, we continue to ask individuals who have yet to speak with police to come forward.

Addressing gun violence continues to be a priority for our Service. Through investigation, prevention, and enforcement activities we have coordinated our resources to reduce victimization and enhance community safety.

Our efforts to address gun violence rely on strong community support. If you have information that could help an investigation, such as witnessing suspicious behaviour or vehicles, please contact police. Even something small can have a great impact on an investigation.
