Police investigate shooting at northwest restaurant

We are seeking information from the public regarding a shooting that took place this morning at a northwest restaurant.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., today, Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, we were called for reports of an attempted robbery that occurred at TJ’s Pizza located at 1921 Centre Street N.W.

It is believed an unknown man entered the business, threatened employees with a gun, and demanded cash from the front counter register.

Employees in the restaurant attempted to scare the suspect away and an altercation occurred.

Upon being pushed out of the restaurant, the suspect fired shots at the front door, resulting in broken glass. The suspect then fled the scene prior to police arrival.

One employee was transported to hospital with minor injuries sustained during the altercation.

The suspect is described as having a fair-complexion, approximately 35 years old, 6'4" tall, and 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and dark-coloured pants.
