Police investigate shooting at Connaught Park

We are investigating a shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon in the southwest.

At approximately 3:55 p.m., yesterday, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, officers responded to reports of a shooting at Connaught Park, located at 1135 14 Avenue S.W.

Upon arrival, police and other emergency personnel located a man in his 30s suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and remains in care with life-altering injuries.

Several individuals were taken into custody for questioning and were subsequently released after investigators determined they were not involved.

An additional person was taken into custody and the investigation remains ongoing.

“This was a brazen act of violence in a public space,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Corey Der. “These are places where people should feel safe walking their dogs and enjoying their community. We recognize how unsettling this is for residents and are committed to holding those responsible accountable.”

As the investigation remains in its early stages, no further details are available at this time.
