Police investigate serious-injury incident

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a single-vehicle incident that occurred early this morning in the northeast.

Today, Monday, July 3, 2023, at approximately 3 a.m., a half-ton pickup truck was travelling west on McKnight Boulevard near 84 Street N.E. The vehicle was occupied by the driver, an 18-year-old man, and a single passenger, a 19-year-old man.

Shortly after the truck passed 84 Street N.E., it is believed the passenger suddenly exited the truck through the passenger door while the truck was travelling, suffering serious injuries.

The driver of the truck stopped the vehicle and returned to the scene, where he and witnesses administered first aid to the passenger, who was later transported to hospital.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident on behalf of both the driver and the passenger.
