Police investigate serious-injury collision in the northeast

Our Traffic Section is investigating after a serious-injury collision occurred in city’s northeast.

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at approximately 1:40 p.m., police were called for reports of a collision at the intersection of Cornerstone Avenue N.E. and Cornerstone Street N.E.

It is believed a sedan, operated by a woman in her 30s with a small child passenger, was travelling southbound on Cornerstone Street N.E., approaching the intersection. After the sedan stopped at the stop sign, the vehicle entered the intersection, and crossed into the path of an eastbound SUV driven by a man in his 50s, who was proceeding with the right of way.

The SUV struck the sedan, and came to a rest on the front lawn of a nearby residence. The sedan rotated and came to a rest in the intersection facing northbound.

The woman was transported to hospital in serious condition. The child passenger was uninjured. The man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Neither speed nor drugs or alcohol are believed to be factors in this collision.

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate and asks anyone who may have information or dashcam footage related to this incident to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
