Police investigate serious-injury collision in Rundle

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a serious-injury collision involving an electric bicycle in the northeast community of Rundle.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, we responded to a collision at the intersection of 36 Street and 20 Avenue N.E. At that time, it is believed a 2014 GMC Savana Cutaway, driven by a 67-year-old man, was travelling northbound on 36 Street N.E. At the same time, a 59-year-old woman riding an electric bicycle was travelling eastbound on 20 Avenue N.E. As she entered the intersection, the bicycle collided with the GMC.

The cyclist sustained serious, life-altering injuries and was transported to hospital. The driver of the GMC was not injured and remained at the scene.

Excessive speed, alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
