Police investigate serious-injury collision in city’s deep south
Two men are in life-altering and life-threatening condition following a single-vehicle collision on Deerfoot Trail yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, we were called to the area of Deerfoot Trail S.E. and 212 Avenue S.E. for reports of a single-vehicle rollover involving two occupants.
At the time of the collision, it is believed that a white 2008 GMC Savana van, driven by a man in his 30s, was travelling southbound on Deerfoot Trail S.E. when the vehicle began to drift onto the centre median. As the van was travelling on the median, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll. The vehicle rolled up the median slope and re-entered the roadway, continuing to roll across all lanes of southbound Deerfoot Trail S.E. before coming to a rest on the right-hand shoulder.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with life-altering injuries and the passenger, a man in his 30s, was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.
Neither excessive speed nor impairment are considered to be factors in this collision.
