Police investigate serious-injury collision

We are investigating a collision that occurred today at the intersection of 17th Avenue and 45th Street S.W., leaving a woman with serious injuries.

At approximately 11:20 a.m. today, Saturday, July 8, 2023, it is believed that a 2004 Honda Accord, operated by a woman in her 20s, was turning left from westbound 17th Avenue S.W. onto southbound 45th Street S.W.

At the same time, it is believed that a 2018 Volkswagen Golf, operated by a woman in her 80s, was travelling eastbound on 17th Avenue S.W., approaching 45th Street S.W.

The Honda entered the path of the Volkswagen and struck the front of the vehicle.

The driver of the Honda and the two passengers were not injured and remained at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in this collision.
