Police investigate serious assault incident on Stampede Midway

We are currently investigating a serious assault incident involving three victims that occurred at the Calgary Stampede.

At approximately 11:05 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, we responded to reports of an assault near the Euroslide on the Calgary Stampede Midway. Upon arrival, officers located a man in medical distress. He was transported to hospital in life-threating but stable condition.

Shortly after, officers responded to two additional reports of individuals in medical distress: a youth in the area of 17th Avenue S.E. and Macleod Trail S.E. and a man near Erlton Street S.W. and 27th Avenue S.W. Investigators have since determined that both were also victims of the same assault that occurred on the Midway. They were transported to hospital in serious but stable condition.

At this time, the incident is not believed to be random. The suspects remain at large.

Investigators believe a number of witnesses were present during the altercation and that some may have recorded the incident on their cellphones.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage from the area at the time is asked to contact police.

The investigation is in the early stages. Further information will be shared as it becomes available.
