Police investigate pedestrian hit and run in northeast

Our Traffic Unit is investigating a hit-and-run collision that occurred yesterday afternoon in the northeast community of Pineridge that sent one man to hospital with serious injuries.

At about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, it is believed a male pedestrian was walking eastbound in the alleyway behind the 6700 block of 26th Avenue N.E., when he was approached by an unknown person operating a newer-model white Jeep Cherokee.

The pedestrian walked in front of the vehicle, which accelerated suddenly and struck the pedestrian, before turning left in a circle and striking a fence.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital, where it was determined he had suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver and vehicle involved did not remain at the scene of the collision.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
