Police investigate pedestrian collision near Chinook CTrain Station
We are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a CTrain last night.
Yesterday, Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at approximately 6:40 p.m., a serious-injury collision occurred at the CTrain crossing located at 61 Avenue and 1A Street S.W.
At the time, a man was crossing the CTrain tracks heading east, and at the same time, a CTrain was travelling southbound approaching Chinook CTrain Station.
As the pedestrian crossed the tracks, he was struck by the CTrain and thrown approximately eight metres, before landing on the road in the westbound lanes of 61 Avenue S.W. The train travelled approximately 20 metres before coming to a stop.
The man was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The train operator was not injured in the collision.
At the time of the collision, the train’s warning signals and barrier arms were functioning and unobscured.
Impairment is not considered to be a factor in this collision.
