Police investigate pedestrian collision in Whitehorn
Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a collision that occurred this morning in the northeast community of Whitehorn.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, we responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the southbound lanes of 36th Street N.E. at the intersection of Whitehorn Drive N.E.
It is believed that at the time of the collision, a Toyota Matrix, driven by a woman in her 60s, was travelling southbound on 36th Street N.E., entering the intersection of Whitehorn Drive N.E.
The vehicle struck a woman in her 20s who was crossing the southbound lanes at the crosswalk. It is believed the pedestrian was crossing against the signal.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene.
Excessive speed, drugs or alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision.
