Police investigate northeast fatal collision

Our Traffic Section is investigating after a collision resulted in the death of a man yesterday morning in the community of Saddle Ridge.

On Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at approximately 11:10 a.m., a collision occurred at the intersection of Cornerstone Drive N.E. and 96 Avenue N.E.

At that time, it is believed a Mack 600 truck, operated by a man in his 40s, was travelling westbound on 96 Avenue N.E., approaching Cornerstone Drive N.E. At the same time, a Toyota RAV 4, operated by a man in his 70s, was travelling southbound on Cornerstone Drive N.E.

The Toyota proceeded from the stop sign, encroaching into the path of the truck. The front of the truck struck the driver’s side of the Toyota. 

The Toyota came to a rest a short distance off the roadway. The truck came to a rest in the right shoulder of 96 Avenue N.E.

The driver of the Toyota suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the truck was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Neither excessive speed nor alcohol or drugs are considered to be factors in this collision.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision.
