Police investigate multi-vehicle collision involving motorcyclist

We continue to investigate a multi-vehicle collision that occurred yesterday leaving a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

On Sunday, June 29, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m., an 18-year-old man was believed to be operating a 2015 YZF-R1 Yamaha, while travelling at a high rate of speed along southbound Deerfoot Trail N.E.

As the motorcycle approached the 32 Avenue N.E. bridge, the rider is believed to have lost control of the Yamaha and struck a white 2018 Nissan Altima driven by a woman in her 30s.

The motorcyclist continued to lose control of his motorcycle and struck an additional vehicle, a white 2015 Audi A4 driven by a 19-year-old woman.

It is believed following the impact with both vehicles, the motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured in the collision and remained on scene.

Speed is being investigated as a possible factor in this collision on the part of the motorcyclist.

It is believed the 18-year-old man operating the Yamaha did not possess the appropriate Class 6 licence to operate a motorcycle.
