Police investigate homicide in the northwest - Correction

Our initial release reported that the shooting occurred outside of the west entrance of Market Mall in the parking lot. The incident actually occurred outside of the south entrance of the mall. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this error.

Our Homicide Unit is currently on scene investigating the death of a man which occurred earlier today outside of a mall in the northwest.

 At approximately 2:21 p.m., today, Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, police were called for reports of shots fired outside of the south entrance of Market Mall located at 3412 49 Street N.W. in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, first responders located a man in medical distress. He was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition where he was declared deceased.  

 No suspects are in custody at this time.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, Aug. 14, 2023. 

As the investigation is in its early stages, no further information is available at this time.
