Police investigate fatal motorcycle collision
Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a motorcycle collision that occurred yesterday in the city’s northwest that resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man.
On Thursday, June 19, 2025, at approximately 5:54 p.m., a collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of Stoney Trail N.W. near Sarcee Trail N.W.
At that time, it is believed a white 2023 GMC Sierra pickup truck with a utility trailer attached was travelling eastbound on Stoney Trail N.W. in the middle lane. At the same time, a red 2019 Ducati 959 Panigale motorcycle was travelling eastbound in the far-left lane on Stoney Trail N.W.
As the GMC and motorcycle approached Sarcee Trail N.W., traffic had slowed. The GMC braked and changed lanes to the left, striking the motorcycle. The motorcycle and rider were knocked down, coming to a rest near the guardrails in the centre median.
The rider suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where he later sadly succumbed to his injuries.
The GMC remained at the scene and the driver was not injured.
Speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in this collision.
