Police investigate fatal motorcycle collision

We are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred last night near the downtown area.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., yesterday, Thursday, July 13, 2023, it is believed that a 19-year-old man, operating a Suzuki motorcycle, was driving eastbound on Ninth Avenue S.W. near the 14th Street S.W. overpass, when the motorcycle struck a railing. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and fell onto the roadway of 14th Street S.W.

The rider suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in the collision. Speed is being investigated as a factor.
