Police investigate fatal motorcycle collision on Stoney Trail

Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night leaving a 48-year-old man dead.

At approximately 6:40 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, we were called for reports of a collision that occurred on Stoney Trail approaching the 17 Avenue S.E. overpass involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

A motorcycle operated by a 48-year-old man was travelling north when it collided with the rear of an SUV operated by a 27-year-old woman.

The motorcycle then struck the cable barrier on the left side of the road. The rider suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV brought her vehicle to a stop and remained at the scene. She was not injured.

The speed of the motorcycle is considered to be a factor in this collision. Alcohol or drugs are not considered factors in this collision.
