Police investigate fatal collision

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a fatal collision that occurred in northwest Calgary early this morning.

On Tuesday, May 26, just before 2 a.m., a 2007 Nissan Altima, being operated by a 35-year-old man, was heading west on Crowchild Trail N.W., exiting onto Northland Drive, N.W., when it left the road into a grass median.

The vehicle continued west before sideswiping a concrete barrier, then colliding with another, sending the vehicle into the air and ejecting the driver.

The vehicle landed on its roof, then caught fire.

The driver was found nearby and declared deceased at the scene.

Speed is being investigated as a factor in the collision.
