Police investigate fatal collision on Stoney Trail

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a single-vehicle collision that occurred last night in the northeast, resulting in the death of the driver.

At approximately 9:50 p.m., on Monday, May 12, 2025, we responded to a single-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of Stoney Trail N.E., directly beneath the Deerfoot Trail N.E. overpass.

At that time, it is believed a 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-43, driven by a man in their 20s, was travelling eastbound on Stoney Trail approaching Deerfoot Trail N.E. when the driver failed to negotiate the curve of the roadway. The Mercedes-Benz exited the road to the right before striking the concrete bridge. The vehicle rolled and came to a rest on its roof.

The driver suffered serious injuries and was declared deceased on scene.

Speed is considered to be a factor in this collision, and the circumstances leading up to the incident are currently under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
