Police investigate fatal collision in the southwest

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a single-vehicle collision that has resulted in the death of a man.

Earlier today, Thursday, April 6, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m., we responded to reports of a serious-injury collision at the intersection of Stoney Trail and Spruce Meadows Trail S.W.

It is believed an SUV, being driven by a man in his 40s, was travelling eastbound on Spruce Meadows Trail when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the centre median, ultimately striking a concrete bridge support.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was declared deceased on scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. At this time, excessive speed and impairment are not believed to be factors.
