Police investigate fatal collision in southwest Calgary

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred on the western edge of the city.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, emergency services were called to the intersection of 101 Street and Lower Springbank Road S.W., after a motorcycle and vehicle collided. 

The driver of the vehicle is not believed to have serious injuries, however, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on scene. 

The Traffic Section of the Calgary Police Service is now investigating to determine what occurred. 

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area as the intersection will remain closed for the remainder of the afternoon.
