Police investigate fatal collision in Killarney

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a fatal collision involving a cyclist in the southwest community of Killarney.

At about 10:12 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, we responded to a collision at the intersection of 26 Avenue and 32 Street S.W. It is believed a dump truck towing a ‘pup’ trailer was travelling westbound on 26 Avenue S.W. and turned northbound onto 32 Street S.W. At the same time, an electric bicycle operated by a man in his 60s was travelling westbound in the designated bicycle lane on 26 Avenue S.W., at the intersection of 32 Street S.W., when he was struck by the truck.

The cyclist was transported to hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was uninjured.

Excessive speed, alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision.
